Faux linen wall treatment

I had the house to myself this weekend and decided to try something new.

I've been admiring grasscloth and linen wall treatments for some time, and I thought I could re-create the look using paint.  I decided to test it out in my dining room.

I went with a color called "Gingerbread Man."

Here is the finished product!

To create the look, I used the same color of paint under the chair railing and above.  Above the chair rail, the paint is mixed with clear glaze medium and is also scraped off in two directions with a dragging brush.  You can see some of the original greige underneath - that's why it looks lighter.

The absolute best part of this project was the company.  My friend Molly swung by with some brie and champagne and we got to talk Paris and Impressionism while she visited.  I know how ridiculous that sounds... but seriously, could there be anything better?
